Simple Bolognese Recipe
November 8, 2008Bolognese is a simple meat sauce you can order at any Italian restaurant in town. It’s the “red sauce” on the menu. Meat, tomato sauce, and pasta are three peas in a pod. Add some zucchini, onions and garlic, and you have a killer sauce. This is a great way to stretch your dollar before the holiday crunch. It is also an easy way to prepare a delicious meat sauce, and hopefully provide you with some leftovers for a couple days.

Bolognese pasta sauce
Ingredients
- 1 pound of lean ground meat (Beef, turkey, whatever you like. In this recipe I used beef)
- 5 garlic cloves minced
- 1/2 medium onion diced
- 1 jar of your favorite spaghetti sauce (I use organic basil tomato combo from Trader Joe’s)
- 1 medium size zucchini sliced and cut into halves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- dash of cayenne pepper
Directions
- In a large sauce pot on a medium heat, put in your raw ground meat, garlic, onions, and salt
- Let it cook until it is completely done (about 10 minutes)
- Pour in tomato sauce and a dash of cayenne pepper
- Bring to a boil stirring occasionally for about 5 minutes
- Let sauce simmer for 20 minutes on low
- Pour in your zucchini and bring back to a boil for 5 minutes
- Your sauce is done!
