Before & After Children’s Dresser

We bought this Ikea dresser a while ago with plans of painting it either yellow or white. After some thought (and trial and error), I decided to paint this dresser bright white with a sunny yellow border on each drawer.

To complete the look I found these adorable bronzed owl drawer knobs.

Can I just tell you how much I’m in love with this little dresser now!

And is it bad that I want to now paint all of my furniture?

Our nightstands have been looking pretty drab lately… just sayin’.

Here’s the “before” picture. Like I said earlier, I had originally wanted to paint this dresser yellow, but once I painted one drawer, it didn’t jive with me.

I loosely painted on the yellow border with acrylic paint. Then I lightly penciled in a 1 inch border around the perimeter of each drawer, then followed that penciled line with painter’s tape.

The entire dresser was painted with a high-gloss white paint.  Once dry, the tape was peeled off, touching up with yellow or white paint where needed.

A quick swap out of the old knobs with new ones made this dresser absolutely stunning. Love, love, love!

**As a side note – I used primer before I painted this dresser, since it was raw wood, but it’ s a good idea to use primer, regardless.
