Homemade Chapstick, Two Ways

homemade chapstick 1

One of my dearest friends from the West Coast came to visit us with her husband this weekend. We shopped, we baked, we laughed, we cried, then laughed some more. And then we made chapstick. Life couldn’t be sweeter than having a friend you can do all of this with. It’s good for the soul.

Each flavor makes 5 sticks of chapstick. I bought my chapstick containers here. And found these pretty stickers here. Any labeling sticker works.

Coconut Oil & Vitamin E Chapstick

~ Ingredients make 5 - .15 tubes of chapstick

1/2 tablespoon beeswax

2 tablespoons coconut oil

1/2 teaspoon Vitamin E oil

Melt beeswax in a double boiler. (tip: fill a medium sauce pan halfway with water and bring it to a boil. Place ingredients into a glass Pyrex measuring cup, and place it in the hot bath being extra careful not to burn yourself once the oil is melted). Once melted, add coconut oil and Vitamin E oil. Stir until completely dissolved. Remove from heat.

Line up chapstick tubes and carefully pour liquid to the top in each tube. You may have leftover so if you have an extra tube you want to use go for it.

Homemade Grapefruit-Mint Chapstick

~ Ingredients make 5 - .15 ounce tubes of chapstick

1/2 tablespoon beeswax

2 tablespoons of Vitamin E oil

1/2 teaspoon oil (olive oil, jajoba oil, apricot oil. I used a beautifying oil by Aveda)

3-4 drops of essential grapefruit oil

1-2 drops of peppermint oil

In a double boiler add beeswax, oils (minus the essential oils) and stir until beeswax is completely melted. Remove from heat and stir in essential oils.

Line up tubes and carefully pour liquid to the top. There may be remainder liquid. If you have an extra tube you can fill it up part way. Or dump it, your choice.

Hi Esther! Sorry this is such a late reply…I used Rifle Paper stickers and just wrote on them.
