DIY Pirate Costume

Happy Halloween!! I’m working on some pretty exciting new stuff and can’t wait to share it with you all. This little number has been long overdue. But it’s something that can be thrown together quickly. I bought a pirate hat and hook for this costume beforehand, but it’s even cute without it.

Since Oliver didn’t approve of the hat, it wasn’t on long…

To start I used black pants, a white shirt/onesie and red fabric for a sash.

I cut out squares from a sheet of glitter foam and double-sided taped them onto a pair of shoes Oliver wears regularly. I also used yellow fabric once he ripped off the glitter squares at a Halloween party over the weekend. Fabric worked out best in my opinion. It stuck on better.

I bought a yard of ruffle ribbon and cut it into 5 inch pieces. Then I glued them directly onto the shirt.

For the torn look on the pants and shirt I cut uneven zig-zag lines.

I used 1/4 yard of stretchy red fabric for the sash/belt. And there you have it, a quick and simple pirate costume!
