Oliver’s room has been a work in progress ever since we moved him (and us) into our new addition a few months ago. I originally wanted his room to reflect a vintage circus theme. Then I loved the idea of an old western cowboy themed nursery. But then a woodland creature themed nursery kept creeping into my head.
Since Oliver is now past the “Nursery room” stage, and moving steadily right into “Toddler room” stage, I’ll need to work out the details of his ever changing bedroom.
As of right now, his room is a little burst of everything, with bright oranges, yellows, reds, blues and greens. I painted his walls a neutral color, that way different pieces of art and furniture can really pop. And like the rest of our house, some things are vintage, some things new.
As for this tree, I always new I wanted a tree of some kind in Oliver’s bedroom. I originally had my eyes set on this tree decal. I loved the idea of having a bookshelf disguised as a tree branch. But alas, this 3D tree popped into my head and ultimately won. I recycled the majority of the paper leaves from Oliver’s birthday party garland and then used acrylic paint for the trunk. It came together beautifully.
To put it all together I used double-sided tape and stuck each leaf onto a large green poster, working from the center, out. Then I thumb-tacked the leaf-filled poster to the wall where I painted on a tree trunk and filled it in with more leaves around the edges.
I’ll have Oliver’s whole room posted here soon, with tons of pictures for a little toddler room inspiration. :)
