Candied Birds Nest

Butterscotch egg baskets

With Easter quickly approaching I figured I’d better get as many treats in as I can. I made this for a party I hosted last week. I’m crazy about butterscotch so this was right up my alley. Only three ingredients needed to make one super easy and festive treat.

This recipe got me thinking about how glorious peanut butter chips would taste in with this and chocolate eggs on top. Or even Reese’s peanut butter chocolate eggs on top? YES, please!! I mean I don’t think you can go wrong with either of these combos, they’re just too cute and too good to pass up.

Candied Birds Nest Recipe

3 cups of butterscotch chips or peanut butter chips

6 cups of crunch chow mein noodles

Candy coated chocolate eggs like Robbin Eggs or Pastel-colored peanut M&M's

Place chips in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in increments of 20 seconds until all the chips are melted and smooth (give it a stir each time before you place back into the microwave).

Pour chow mein noodles into a large mixing bowl and drizzle all of the melted chips onto it. Give it a big stir until every noodle is coated with candy. Spoon a heaping tablespoon size of noodles onto a parchment lined baking sheet. Before candy hardens place three eggs in the middle of each nest.

Allow to harden (about 15-25 minutes).

I showed this to my grandsons and told them I would make them. The youngest asked me to use chocolate birds, so I’m going to try and find them :)

Janet – if you find chocolate birds, let me know! Otherwise you could always use chocolate chips and make chocolate nests. Then maybe put a Peep’s bird on top? :)
