Spiced cider

Spiced cider

Spiced cider is similar to mulled wine, or at least the spices are. It adds an aromatic fragrance that seeps into every room and smells delightful. I served this recently at a baby shower I threw and people came back for seconds, thirds and fourths. Quite the popular drink if you ask me. Did I mention it is ridiculously easy to make? Great anytime, hot or cold, but best served hot, curled up in warm blanket with a good book.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 gallon of  fresh apple juice
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 teaspoon whole all spice
  • 3 whole star anise
  • 1 tablespoon whole cloves

Directions

Put all ingredients into a tea kettle, or large pot and bring to a boil (about 5 minutes or until tea kettle screams). Serve hot by itself or with a dollop of freshly whipped cream.
